I like this! The color palette is working really well for you here, and the water is fantastic. I've always found painting water to be a pain in the ass and you really pulled it off - any tips? The atmospheric perspective is very convincing as well. Kudos, this is a lovely piece.

matte painting makes water easy!! seriously i'm not hiding that there's some photo elements in there but i had to paint over it a bit for the lighting to work. nothing special either other than referencing like mad.

thanks !

Ooo. I love the scenery, especially the way you rendered the water. (...That's not a texture, is it?)

it's a matte painting. the sky, grass and water are partial photo textures. buildings are from scratch as are the figures (obviously). the parts with photo texture still have over painting to make it work with the colours and light, so it's not all cheating xP

Eh. I wasn't going to call it cheating. I can understand using textures as a time saving process. I respect you more for using grass textures instead of the stock grass brush in Photoshop. I hate that one. XD
