loud mouth pigs by DanHowardArt loud mouth pigs by DanHowardArt
Jackie's back!

This wasn't meant to be a direct tribute to anyone, but certainly , and I think it's obvious, Frank Frazetta's work is and probably always will be a HUGE influence. When I was a kid, my late brother gave me a few of his art books, three of which were Frazetta compilations. No fantasy artist has ever had the sense of motion and chaos that Frank harnessed in his work. Certainly there are many a copycat and I myself can only hope to be a poor imitation at best.

Rest in peace, Frank, and thank you for shaping many of our futures.

I've often seen Frazetta's influence in your fantasy pictures and you're more than capable of making a respectable homage to the man. Good stuff.

Incidentally, one of the best Frazetta style pics I've seen was drawn by this young pavement artist in Melbourne- an awesome piece in chalks which tapered off at the border into the footprints where people had walked on it. Added to the charm!

What's she even doing within melee range of three orc-boars? One is bad enough, two is usually fatal, but three is suicide. If she had to kill them, she should have picked them off one-by one when they went to squat in the bushes. With most bipedal sentients on the continent, that's when their guard is down. Whoever taught this girl combat discipline should be shot. From a cannon.

*grumble grumble* direct combat *grumble* cannon fodder *grumble* girl that young *grumble grumble*

Never picked up his others. The Strange Famous label gets all my attention nowadays.

But I hate getting off track. This is about you!

You did a fine job of controlling motion in the entire piece. My eye travels around well. The poses and values also get pretty rich without getting too confusing.

Out of curiosity, it looks like your women tend to gravitate towards similar builds, even though it isn't necessarily a good fit for a woman doing an air-borne strike in a fight. Is this just your aesthetic preference?

Her arm seems a little stiff, and the pig in the back, the brown one, really seems to be in a state of dissonance with the action, considering.

when I heard Frank had died, I thought about those artists who derive inspiration from him, and you were first to come to mind
