This Friday!  I've not even done my laundry yet!!!  But it's Fanime, starting this Friday through Monday!   I'll be there drawing things!   However I'm doing something a little different.  I will NOT be in the Artist Alley , but will be in the Dealer's Room with the awesome Hideo group.   It's a huge cross-promo that will lead up to an awesome art show featuring art by myself as well as other artists involved with the Hideo Project.   Here's the info:

What could be better than coming out to Oxford Comics , here in Atlanta, and seeing my smiling face as I do drawings for the kids (or for you via your kid because you know you'd do it) from 1pm to 4pm. I have an array of bad habits from music to being an art whore for commissions my own self. I suppose there are bills too...

So, if you're interested, here's what's offered:

Quick notes:

Every thing you need to know or see is here. Prices and examples are all correct.

All prices are PER Character

If you are interested in a painted commission, be aware that the price listed is a STARTING POINT. I will add extra for complicated details like elaborate armor, wings, backgrounds, multiple characters, etc. I will discuss this via note.

My long-time buddy Sonny has been working hard on his artist resource page for a few years now. Recently, he has started up an artist directory geared towards seriously promoting those who are looking to sell their work and services so potential clientel. This is a free directory.

If you or any artist you know would be interested, these are guidelines to help you in how to promote yourself. To get the most out of this, be as descriptive as possible and really think about how you would sell your craft. Sonny will make a very detailed business profile of you featuring your work :

Tell us about yourself! What is your name, title, and background of you and your business?

What types of art related genre/styles do you or your business specialize in?

What art related solutions or services you or your business can offer based on your specialization and field of expertise?

What are the valuable customer related experiences that you or your business can add to your profile? How will you go that 'extra' mile for your clients?

What are your rates and methods of payment do you accept that is convenient to your customers? Do you have any special offers or rebates you can suggest?

Know your audience! What is your selling point and how will it BENEFIT them?

Finally, how will your customers contact you? If you have a local business or website, where is it located?

**Be sure to include up to 4 of your best works that best exemplify what you do**

It's 2012

It's a new year. A lot of people are probably happy 2011 is in the past. I'm personally ambivalent when I think about it. There was a rocky start on my end, back in Vegas, but I also had some good things happen. The Hideo Concert job was great fun as well as a learning experience. I also made some pretty good improvements in my own work. This can only get better, right? I'm back in Atlanta, and looking forwards. I can't say it was a bad year even though Las Vegas wasn't quite a great decision on my part. We only learn from these things.

Hope everyone out there who still passes by this page is having a great New Year and has plans to do better for themselves, whatever it is that you do.

Hideo Concert

Back in July, I was hired on to do the projection illustration and storyboards for Hideo ([link]). Over 100 paintings and many concepts later, the production is ready to go! The first showing is right around the corner on Nov. 5 at the Performing Arts Center's Christopher Cohan Center in San Luis Obispo, CA. If you're in the area, please get a ticket and check out all the hard work everybody has put into the show.

Yup, it's quiet around here. I have a contract job that will be carrying on into the fall so don't expect much in the way of new work for a good while.

Currently, I am working on projection illustrations/motion graphics/storyboards for HIDEO (*click*)

Let Me Repeat...Things That Piss Off Artists...

I posted this some time last year, but since it's happening again, it's worth repeating...

While  not the most common occurrence, this is one of the most INFURIATING situations a freelance illustrator can come across:

I am talking about you people who contact hard working freelancers about your stories and your projects and your personal commissions and go so far as to initiate the most professional sounding of dialogue up to the point of the discussion of payment, references, and a schedule....only to disappear as the time to actually pay rolls around.

You are the lowest of scum.  Go choke on your stupid ideas.  May you be doomed to a pedestrian life of service jobs for the rest of your pathetic existence.

In short, fuck you.

PS:  no art was exchanged.  It is wise to NEVER work before payment with unestablished or upstart companies or clients.  Be wary of anyone that talks a good game before they actually follow through.  Actions put the money in your pocket, not words.

So, like I said, I've never quite had the prowess to sculpt as I seem to have with 2-dimensional art. And I would love to see this particular piece as a figure of some sort.
